The first international games of the 2015-16 ice sledge hockey season will take place in Torino, Italy, between 7-12 December. Canada, South Korea, Norway and Italy will face-off.

Hoping Norway will rebound quickly from a devastating fourth place finish at the 2015 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships A-Pool is Norway’s defenceman Thomas Jacobsen.

Paralympic.org caught up with Jacobsen and asked him three pertinent questions about his game.

Who do you think are the top five sledge hockey players in the world right now?

1.Declan Farmer (USA)

2.Brody Roybal (USA)

3.Greg Westlake (Canada)

4.Steve Cash (USA)

5.Dmitrii Lisov (Russia)

Which player do you enjoy enjoying facing the most?

Italy’s veteran forward Greg Leperdi, because he’s a very physical player and never lets anyone off easy.

Which NHL player do you like to model his game after?

Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson – despite sitting in a sledge rather than standing, I try to copy Karlsson’s moves to recreate his defensive production.

Norway will play for the first honours of the 2015-16 season in Torino, which will be broadcast on Rai TV in Italy and live at IPC Ice Sledge Hockey’s website.
