World Rowing has reached the decision deadline for its Tokyo 2020 Final Paralympic Qualification Regatta, which is set for 3-5 June in Gavirate, Italy.

The regatta will include international classification opportunities in connection with the Gavirate International Para Rowing Regatta from 4-6 June.

The decision by the World Rowing Executive Committee came following extensive discussions with all key stakeholders and applying the previously published decision-making framework. It has been World Rowing’s position that sport should continue during this pandemic and that events should, when and where possible, take place while keeping the safety and health of rowers and all participants as the priority.

More information on the Final Paralympic Qualification Regatta in Gavirate is available on World Rowing’s website.

PARA ARCHERY QUALIFICATION UPDATED

An updated qualification procedure for Para archery at Tokyo 2020 has been released following the cancellation of this year’s European Para Championships in Olbia, Italy.

The European Championships were intended to host a continental qualifying event for the Games with 10 quota places available. These spots will now be distributed at the final qualification tournament, which is scheduled for 4-11 July 2021 in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic. The places will remain reserved for Para archers from Europe and distributed through a separate eliminations bracket.

The American continental qualification tournament is currently scheduled to take place at the Pan American Championships in Monterrey, Mexico in March 2021. In case the tournament in Monterrey is cancelled, the quota places will likely be distributed at the final qualification tournament, mirroring the approach with the European places.
