Five athletes shortlisted for April's Allianz Athlete of the Month

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has revealed the shortlist for April’s Allianz Athlete of the Month, and the public can now vote for the winner on our homepage.

The nominations are:

Kate Doughty, Australia, triathlon

Made it a hat-trick of Para triathlon wins, just eight months after giving birth, with victory in the women’s PTS5 at the World Para Triathlon Series in Milan, Italy.

Krishna Nagar, India, badminton

Pulled off a stunning set of upsets against the world’s top two SS 6 players to claim singles and doubles gold at the Fazza International Championships.

Maisie Summers-Newton, Great Britain, swimming

At 16 years old, she crushed her own S6 world record to win the women’s 200m individual medley gold at the Glasgow World Series.

Manuela Schaer, Switzerland, athletics

Notched up a phenomenal sixth consecutive major marathon victory as she claimed World Championship gold in the women’s marathon T54 in London.

Michael Roeger, Australia, athletics

It was a stunning debut for him at the London Marathon, smashing the men’s T46 world record by clocking 2:22:51.

The public has until 12:00 (CEST) on Friday (10 May) to vote for the athlete they want to be the Allianz Athlete of the Month for April 2019 via the International Paralympic Committee homepage.

The nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) and International Federations (IFs).

The 2019 winners are:

• January – Jeroen Kampschreur, NED, alpine skiing

• February – Yujie Li, CHN, taekwondo

• March – Lisa Bunschoten, NED, snowboard
