Five countries represented among nominations 04 Jun 2019The nominations for May 2019’s Americas ‘Athlete of the Month’ poll have been announced. The public are invited to vote for their winner via the Americas Paralympic Committee homepage until Tuesday, 11 June.
Allysa Seely, USA, triathlon
Secured sixth consecutive World Series win with another impressive victory in Yokohama, Japan.
Anssell Miranda Martinez, Puerto Rico, athletics
On his international debut as a junior, the 15-year-old T46 runner took two golds at the Dessert Challenge.
Carolina Munevar, Colombia, cycling
Won double gold in the women’s road race and time trial C2 at the Ostend World Cup in Belgium.
Herbert Aceituno, El Salvador, powerlifting
Extended his remarkable success streak by taking his second World Cup title in Lima.
Sherman Guity, Costa Rica, athletics
Claimed two golds in the men’s 100m and 200m T64 at the Nottwil Grand Prix and was congratulated by the Costa Rican President himself.
Nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) from across the continent.
The 2019 Americas Athlete of the Month winners are:

• February – Rebeca Valenzuela Alvarez, Mexico, athletics
• March – Matias Pino, Chile, table tennis
• April – Daniel Martins, Brazil, athletics
