Six cities across four continents will host the world’s best during the World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2023 from February to May next year.

The season will mark the 10th anniversary of the Grand Prix launched in 2013 to give top athletes greater opportunities to compete while providing a platform to develop new talents and excellence in competition management.

Next year’s Grand Prix will return to five host cities that held events in 2022. The season will kick off with the traditional Tunis GP from 6 to 8 February at the Rades Olympic Athletics Stadium.

The Tunisian capital has been part of the World Para Athletics Grand Prix series since the second edition in 2014.

The Grand Prix will then travel to the only city featured in every single season since 2013. The four-day Dubai GP will take place from 26 February to 1 March at the Dubai Club for People of Determination, venue of the 2019 World Championships in UAE.

After making its debut in 2022, Marrakech, Morocco will once again hold a Grand Prix from 9 to 11 March at the Grand Stadium de Marrakech.

Americas and Europe next

The Grand Prix 2023 will move to the Americas region and to another city that hosted the competition for the first time in 2022.

The Monterrey GP in Mexico is set to be held from 27 to 29 April at the Centro De Alto Rendimiento Ninos Heroes.

The two final stops of the 2023 season will take place in Europe. First in Italy from 11 to 13 May with the host city to be confirmed at a later stage.

Italy has also featured in every single season with the Grand Prix travelling to different cities since 2013, including Grosseto, Rieti and Jesolo.

The season will conclude in Switzerland, as Nottwil receives the GP for the seventh time from 25 to 27 May. In 2022, athletes from 46 countries took on the track and field events at the Swiss Paraplegic Centre.

“On behalf of World Para Athletics, I am excited to announce the Grand Prix calendar for 2023,” Paul Fitzgerald, Head of World Para Athletics, said. “Ten years ago, the goal of a GP series was to provide a standard for high level competitions that provided athletes greater opportunities to compete against the world’s best. Our goal now is to raise that standard to reflect the continued growth of our sport and meet the expectations of athletes who continue to set records.”

Another traditional stop of the Grand Prix, French capital Paris will not be part of the season in 2023 as the Charlety Stadium will host the Para Athletics World Championships from 8 to 17 July.
