Three gold medals will be awarded in Para alpine skiing on Day 6 of the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games. In Para ice hockey, the classification matches begin, while in wheelchair curling, the round robin session draws to a close.

Spotlight on Para alpine’s female skiers

Para alpine skiing’s female competitors take centre stage on 12 March, following a rest day.

Medals will be awarded in all three categories of the giant slalom – with only women competing. The men take their turn tomorrow.

The first runs begin at 09:00 CET. Once competitors in each category all have a run under their belts, the second runs will start at 12:30 CET. Factored times from the two runs will be added together to determine the medals in the VI, standing and sitting categories.

Sweden’s standing skier Ebba Aarsjoe was back on her game on Tuesday (10 March) with a second gold of the Games, castigating herself afterwards for slipping to bronze in Monday’s super-G.

Her emotions after winning were mixed, though.

"Such a relief. Revenge from yesterday. I'm really tired. These two days have been crazy. The whole team was down after Aaron's [teammate Lindstroem] crash in the men's super-G standing yesterday. So many emotions, and now we can finally rest a bit.”

Austrian speed machine Veronika Aigner, one half of a sibling duo bent on winning 10 medals at the games, goes for her fourth medal in the vision impaired category.

Spain’s Audrey Pascual Seco will be unmissable in her hot pink sit-ski. She already has two golds and a silver in the bag.

Para ice hockey: growing nations eye learning curve

Para ice hockey fans have a chance to scrutinise the sport’s aspiring nations as the classification matches for the 5th to 8th spots begin.

Slovakia, who have risen impressively through the ranks since starting out in Para ice hockey in 2010, take on Germany at 14:35 CET. Though ranked No.5 in the world, Germany seek their first win of the Games.

Hosts Italy will play Japan at 19:05 CET, inspired by their first victory of the Games, against Germany, on Tuesday (10 March).

With those teams being closer in standard, as will be the case in the classification matches, Italy forward Gianluigi Rosa sensed a different atmosphere.

“I think both teams were nervous, especially because we are on the same road: both teams expected to win, for a change in this Paralympics," he said. "It's good for the team, for the locker room, because maybe we can grow and be more confident.”

In the semifinals on Friday (13 March), the United States will face Czechia, and Canada play China.

Last two curling semifinal spots up for grabs

Medals were awarded to China, Republic of Korea and Latvia in wheelchair curling mixed doubles on Wednesday (11 March); now attention turns to the remainder of the mixed team competition.

Eight teams play simultaneously at 13:35 CET, and again at 18:35, on this last day of round robin competition.

China, gold medallists in the last two Paralympic Winter Games, and multi-medallists Canada have already qualified for the semifinals.

Sweden and the Republic of Korea currently sit third and fourth in the round robin standings.

Sweden’s Ronny Persson was feeling quietly confident yesterday after a win over Slovakia on Wednesday morning (11 March).

"You can't be sure, of course, but it's a very big step towards the play-offs.

"When you go into the play-offs, everything steps up and you get a little bit more tension. And if you've been there a couple of times, like Marcus and I, we have been in tight games before, so it gives you a confidence that you can keep the pulse down.”
