Expression of Interest to 2025 events to close on 27 October

Bidders interested in hosting World Para Athletics events in the 2025 season have until 27 October to submit their Expressions of Interest. 

The 2025 World Para Athletics Championships, the U-20 World Championships and the World Para Athletics Grand Prix series are available to bidders.

The purpose of the Expression of Interest application is to initiate the process to find a suitable candidate for World Para Athletics events. 

2025 World Para Athletics Championships

The World Para Athletics Championships is the biggest single Para sporting event on the planet and the 2025 Worlds will be the first of the new Paralympic cycle towards the Los Angeles 2028 Games.

The latest edition of the World Championships in Paris saw nearly 1,200 athletes from 105 nations competing during ten days in July, attracting 11.4 million viewers around the globe.

2025 World Para Athletics U-20 Championships

The 2025 season will mark the return of the U-20 World Championships to the calendar. The last edition took place in Nottwil, Switzerland in 2019 witnessed seven new world records and 32 countries represented on the podium. 

The U-20 Worlds is a platform for nations to develop their talents and provides young athletes with a first opportunity to compete on a global stage.

2025 World Para Athletics Grand Prix

Launched in 2013 to give athletes greater opportunities to compete in high level international events around the world, the Grand Prix series also offers Local Organising Committees a framework of excellence in competition management. 

The Expression of Interest for the Grand Prix applies both to the 2025 season and to bidders interested in multi-year agreements.

The next Grand Prix season will kick off on February 2024 and travel to seven countries across four continents. The season concludes at the Charlety Stadium, Paris in June, marking a return to the venue that hosted this year’s World Championships.
