1. Wallace broke the 100m T44 world record when he ran 10.71 at August’s Parapan American Games in Toronto, Canada.

2. He was a talented middle distance runner before his amputation, and is a former State champion.

3. The 25-year-old announced his engagement last weekend – congratulations to Jarryd and his bride-to-be!

4. The American won gold at his first major international event – the Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 2011 – less than 18 months after losing his leg.

5. In 2013 USA Track & Field named Wallace as their Para Male Athlete of the Year.

The IPC Athletics World Championships will take place in Doha, Qatar, between 21-31 October, attracting 1,400 athletes from 100 countries.
