IPC to livestream 32 hours of coverage from Grosseto 2016
All the action from the 2016 IPC Athletics European Championships will be available at www.grosseto2016.com 01 Jun 2016IPC Athletics has announced that it will livestream all 32 hours of live action from the 2016 IPC Athletics European Championships that will take place in Grosseto, Italy, between 11-16 June.
More than 600 athletes from at least 36 countries will contest 171 medal events in Grosseto in what is the last major regional competition ahead of September’s Paralympic Games in Rio.
All morning sessions from 10:00 CET at the Carlo Zecchini Olympic Stadium and all evening sessions from 16:00 will be streamed live at www.grosseto2016.com. Commentary and analysis will be provided by Will Downing, a veteran of IPC sport events, and Rob Hayes.
Russia, with 100 athletes, is sending the biggest team to Grosseto 2016 and will be aiming to top the medals table for a third successive European Championships.
A number of world and Paralympic champions will be competing including German long jumper Markus Rehm, British wheelchair racer David Weir and Italian home favourite and sprinter Martina Caironi.
Key head-to-heads include the women’s T38 sprint events between Russia’s Margarita Goncharova and Great Briatin’s Sophie Hahn and the men’s 100m T44 which will pit Great Britain’s Paralympic champion Jonnie Peacock against Germany’s Felix Streng.
A number of athletes who have broken world records already this season will also be in action. This includes Denmark’s Daniel Jorgensen (long jump T42), Italy’s Oxana Corso (400m T35), Germany’s Claudia Nicoleitzik (long jump T36) and the British trio of Richard Whitehead (200m T42), Georgina Hermitage (400m T37) and Aled Davies (shot put F42).
