The National Paralympic Committee of Sweden named 13 athletes from six sports for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, set to take place between 7 and 18 September, following the fourth national selection process.

“It feels great to have more athletes from more sports qualified for the Paralympics,” said Sweden’s Rio 2016 Team Leader Hans Safstrom.

“We named one in canoe, which will make this year its Paralympic debut, another one in boccia, three in cycling, one in sailing and three in shooting.

“We also selected four in athletics. It is important for them to have been informed already that they will compete in Rio so that they can train with more tranquillity ahead of June’s IPC Athletics European Championships.”
