The first World Para Athletics Junior Championships were held in Nottwil, Switzerland

The USA´s Hannah Dederick will be looking to win her fourth gold medal in the women´s 100m T53-T54 Youth (U18) on the final day of competition (6 August) of the 2017 Nottwil World Para Athletics Junior Championships in Switzerland.

But Argentina´s Lucia Montenegro and Switzerland´s Licia Mussinelli will look to cause an upset.

Japanese sprinters Aimi Toyama and Ran Okabe are hoping to increase their country´s medal when they run the women´s 400m T20 Junior (U20).

Meanwhile, Canada´s Larissa Brown, Brazil´s Gabriela Ferreira and Spain´s Meritxell Playa will fight for gold in the women´s long jump F11-F13 Junior (U20).

Austria look for gold in the men´s 1,500m T53-T54 Youth (U18) through either Samuel Rizzo or Ludwig Malter, both of whom will face a tough race against the USA´s Miguel Jimenez-Vergara and Kimbro Spencer.

Another competitive race will be the men´s 800m T35-T38 Youth (U18), with New Zealand´s Guy Harrison facing the likes of Germany´s Paul Raub and Felix Maximiliano Kruesemann; Canada´s Zachary Gingras; and Austria´s Daniel Bounty.

Brazil´s double Youth Parapan American champion Pablo Fabricio Furlan will start as favourite in the men´s 400m T11-T13 Youth (U18) and the men´s long jump F11-F13 Youth (U18).

Ecuador´s world junior champion and London 2017 silver medallist Damian Carcelen seeks to climb onto the first step of the podium again when he competes in the men´s 400m T20 Junior (U20).

The men´s javelin F42-F47 Junior (U20) will see Iran´s Mohammad Fathiganji, who finished fourth at the Rio 2016 Paralympics, facing Mexico´s Parapan American champion Eliezer Buenaventura in what promises to be an epic showdown.
