World Rowing Championships
Dutch duo Corne de Koning and Annika Van der Meer extended their winning streak this season after claiming the world title in the PR2 Mix2x in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The British PR3 Mix4+ boat also stood out by sealing another victory to remain unbeaten at Worlds since 2010. In the PR1 M1x, Australia's Erik Horrie made it five world titles in a row.
World Triathlon Grand Final
A record-equalling 13 countries won at least one medal in Gold Coast, Australia. British triathletes ended as the most decorated, with all 10 of them returning home with a medal. USA’s Mark Barr delivered one of the best performances, becoming world champion for the first time at his sixth Worlds.
World Equestrian Games
The Netherlands’ Sanne Voets was the standout performer in Tryon, USA, by picking up three golds in the grade IV. Brazil, Japan and the USA left with medals, breaking the European dominance in the sport.
Australian Dylan Alcott collected his second wheelchair tennis singles quad title, Dutch player world No.1 Diede de Groot won her fourth women’s Grand Slam title and Great Britain’s Alfie Hewett lifted the men’s singles trophy.
Swiss Paralympic silver medallist Manuela Schaer smashed the world record in the women’s wheelchair race after clocking 1:36:53.
Kitakyushu 2018 Asia-Oceania Championships
Chinese powerlifters shone by breaking world records in three different categories on Japanese soil. Lingling Guo even did it three times on her way to gold in the women’s up to 45kg. Iranian superstar Siamand Rahman lifted 280kg and won the men’s over 107kg.
Wheelchair Fencing European Championships
Italy’s Paralympic champion Beatrice Vio did not disappoint on her home piste and took three golds in Terni.
Wheelchair Fencing Americas Championships
Brazilian fencers enjoyed a good performance in Saskatoon, Canada, with Jovane Guissone, Moacir Ribeiro and Karina Maia all topping the podium. The hosts also celebrated triple gold, with Sylvia Morell closing the Canadian participation with a title in the women’s sabre category A.
