The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is excited to announce the culmination of an initiative to sponsor a special issue of the Journal of Sport Science on evidence-based classification, with 20 articles now published.

Led by the IPC’s three Classification Research and Development Centres, the initiative included a partnership with the Taylor and Francis Online’s publication ‘Journal of Sport Science’. The publication promotes and documents international research in sports and exercise science including physiology, psychology, sports medicine and biomechanics, coaching and talent identification.

The special issue is a positive initiative in classification, showcasing and promoting the breakthroughs in classification research across the different Para sports.

The IPC thanks everyone involved for their contributions in developing and realising this idea; in writing, reviewing and publishing the articles.

All articles will be available as open access until the end of September, and can be accessed on the Taylor and Francis site.
