Sport specific information

When and where did you begin this sport?
He began skiing at age four, and first tried Para skiing in 2017 in Val Thorens, France.
Why this sport?
"I was an avid skier from the age of four, skiing every year with my family, but since my life was turned upside down by my cancer diagnosis I was no longer able to ski. I wasn't going to let this stop me. I looked into different ways of being able to enjoy the exhilaration of the mountains and soon came across an adaptive sport known as sit-skiing. I spent two weeks learning to sit-ski in Val Thorens, France, initially renting equipment, but knowing that this was something I wanted to do I invested in my own sit-ski which enabled me to ski independently."

Impairment
He was born with a hearing impairment, and at age three he had a cochlear implant in his right ear. At age 15 he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma [bone cancer] in his left leg. He underwent eight months of chemotherapy and surgery to replace his knee and shin bone. At age 20 his prosthetic implant became infected, so he decided to have his left leg amputated above the knee.
