Impairment
In 2006 she fractured her tibia in a snowboarding accident. In 2009, after 14 operations, she was diagnosed with a bone infection in her ankle joint and had to have her leg amputated below the knee. "At the time I was a firefighter. I'd had so much pain for the three years before that, I just chose to have it amputated. I said, 'OK, can we amputate today? I need my life back.
