Impairment
In May 2012 she became ill after swimming in the Russian River, CA, United States of America. She had contracted influenza B and MRSA [methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus]. Doctors prescribed a drug to restrict her blood flow, but an overdose of the drug led to dry gangrene and she had to have her hands and legs below the knee amputated. (ktvu.com, 28 Jul 2015)
