Why this sport?
He and a friend from rehabilitation decided to try the sport together. "No matter how old you are, as long as your eyes are good and your nerves are steady, you can participate."

Impairment
At age 36 he started to experience sharp pains running down the right side of his body and was later diagnosed with quadriplegia. (slam.canoe.ca, 2004)
Other information
FROM GREECE TO POLAND TO CANADA
He and his mother fled Greece after the end of World War II and settled in Poland, but shortly after his mother died of pneumonia and he was placed in a Polish orphanage. Eleven years later his father and his brothers were tracked down in Canada, and he was reunited with his family. (patrides.com, 01 Aug 2004)
