When and where did you begin this sport?
He began swimming as a baby and took up the sport competitively in grade four at primary school. Following the diagnosis of his condition, he began focusing on Para swimming from 2013 onwards.
Why this sport?
In his youth he wanted to compete at the Olympic Games, but was not fast enough and quit swimming at university. He became a physical education teacher and taught swimming to children, before returning to the pool himself for rehabilitation following his diagnosis.
