Nova Scotia wheelchair athletics coach Ueli Albert suggested he take up para-athletics and introduced him to Launchers Athletics founder and coach Steve Wohlmuth. "I tried everything. Shot put, javelin and discus, but shot-putting was one of those things that just seemed natural. Once I got hooked up with Steve things took off very fast."
