She would go snowboarding before her cancer diagnosis. "Snowboarding is my passion. It's the main reason I had my leg amputated, so I could get back on a snowboard and shred that snowy goodness."

She was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma [bone cancer] in her right leg in 2013. The cancer was treated with chemotherapy but the bones in her leg continued to deteriorate. In 2016 she elected to have her leg amputated in order to regain a more active lifestyle. "It wasn't easy at first, but I can do so much more now. I'm so much happier now." (, 30 May 2020)
