
Sanchez lived up to the expectations as he took gold at Rio 2016 in the men’s up to 81kg.
He defeated Ukraine’s defending Paralympic champion Oleksandr Kosinov in the semi-finals and South Korea’s Lee Jung-min in the final combat.
The Mexican made his Paralympic debut at Beijing 2008, where he won gold in the men’s up to 73kg class. Four year later at London 2012, he again made it to the podium, but this time took bronze.
At the 2015 IBSA World Games and Judo World Championships in South Korea, he won bronze in the men’s up to 81kg class, having won gold in the event in 2014.
In August 2015, he won his third Parapan American Games gold medal. His success in Toronto, Canada, added to his title wins in 2011 in Guadalajara, Mexico, and 2007 in Rio, Brazil.
