When and where did you begin this sport?
He began Para swimming competitively in September 2012 in Cairo, Egypt.
Why this sport?
"One day I was walking with my friend alongside a swimming pool, and he was joking about throwing me in. At this point I realised I couldn't swim, so I started learning how to swim. I just wanted to know how to swim with my hands only, but I ended up starting a professional career in the sport."

PIONEER
After taking up Para swimming his aim was to compete for the Egyptian national team, but he found that a team did not exist. Initially his request for a team to be created was ignored by Para sport officials in Egypt. However, former Egyptian President Adly Mansour passed on Mohamed Ali's request to the Egyptian minister of sports, resulting in a national team being created.
