When and where did you begin this sport?
He began Para swimming competitively in September 2012 in Cairo, Egypt.
Why this sport?
"One day I was walking with my friend alongside a swimming pool, and he was joking about throwing me in. At this point I realised I couldn't swim, so I started learning how to swim. I just wanted to know how to swim with my hands only, but I ended up starting a professional career in the sport."

After taking up Para swimming his aim was to compete for the Egyptian national team, but he found that a team did not exist. Initially his request for a team to be created was ignored by Para sport officials in Egypt.
