She took up powerlifting at age 14 in Cairo, Egypt.
Why this sport?
She got involved in the sport through her physical therapy. "I met a coach who encouraged me to play sports. She trained me in athletics but I wasn't good at it so I shifted to powerlifting and liked it more. Powerlifting was my way to defeat my impairment."
