He took up powerlifting in 2001 in Cairo, Egypt.
Why this sport?
"I wanted to prove to everyone that a person with an impairment can achieve anything. Since I was young I had a feeling that I could lift anything on my back no matter how heavy or big it was, so I found the sport was a good fit for me and my personality."
