PARA SPORT FOR DEVELOPMENT
Increasing opportunities for persons with disabilities to engage in Para sport and physical activity at all levels and in all contexts.
At the IPC, we envision a future whereby every person with a disability has an opportunity to engage in Para sport in whatever way they wish, from the playground to the podium.
To achieve this, we deliver a comprehensive range of development programmes around the world which advance our members and, in turn, our athletes to strengthen the Paralympic Movement.
The impact of Para sport extends far beyond Paralympians winning medals and showcasing their abilities to a global audience of millions at the Paralympic Games. At a local level, Para sport is a vehicle for tackling the barriers persons with disabilities face on a daily basis, such as lack of accessible facilities, equipment, and societal stigma.
To address these challenges, the IPC supports its members in developing Para sport from grassroots to high performance. By providing new ideas, tools, and networks, the IPC enhances access to Para sport, fostering sustainable programmes and more inclusive communities. This leads to improved infrastructure and mobility for persons with disabilities, contributing towards our vision of a more inclusive world through Para sport.
