Dear Paralympic friends,

On 22 September 2014, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) will mark 25 years and we would like you to share in our Silver Jubilee celebrations.

Since it was formed in Dusseldorf, Germany, a quarter of a century ago, the IPC and the Paralympic Movement have made great strides.

The IPC now boasts nearly 200 members and para-sport is being practiced by more people and more countries than ever before.

In terms of ticket sales and television audiences, the Paralympic Games have grown into the world’s third biggest sporting event, whilst athletes - who today enjoy greater public profile - continue to inspire and excite the world with their sensational performances.

Because so much has been achieved in such a short space of time, and to celebrate our anniversary, we have launched a global search to find the 25 best para-moments of the last quarter of a century.

Anyone can take part and those that do will be put into a free prize draw to win a trip of a lifetime to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

The moment can be of absolutely anything – it could be a sporting moment, an event or something that happened off the field of play.

We are expecting a flood of entries between now and the closing date of Friday 25 July and I, together with the IPC Governing Board, have the almost impossible job of deciding the final 25 moments.

It’s going to be a difficult task, but beginning 29 August, a different moment will be revealed each day via www.ipc25.com until the number one moment of the last 25 years is revealed on 22 September.

Although you may not agree with what makes the Top 25, I am confident that you will all feel a great sense of pride in what has been achieved in such a short space of time by the IPC and its fantastic members.

I would like to thank each and every one of you for your continued support of the Paralympic Movement and wish you good luck with nominating for favourite moment.

Happy celebrations and here’s to another highly successful 25 years!

Sir Philip Craven MBE

IPC President
