When and where did you begin this sport?
He took up Para snowboard in 2012 in the United States of America.
Why this sport?
He took part in a snow sport programme organised through the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. "I signed up with Ski Spectacular, one of their trips. I'd only been snowboarding a few times before then, but when I went I guess I improved enough to be noticed by the coaches. After that they invited me to one of their camps."

Impairment
In July 2012 he was serving as an explosive ordinance disposal technician with the United States Marine Corps in Afghanistan. He was attempting to manually disarm an improvised explosive device [IED] when it exploded. His injuries resulted in the loss of vision in his left eye and the amputation of his lower right arm.
