When and where did you begin this sport?
He began competing in athletics at Brandon High School in Florida, United States of America. Following his accident he took up Para athletics.
Why this sport?
He attended a Paralympic military summit upon his return to the United States of America from Iraq, and was identified as a potential candidate for the Paralympic Games.

Impairment
In 2003 he was serving in Baghdad, Iraq, with the US Army when the Humvee he was travelling in was hit by a truck. He was thrown from the vehicle, breaking his pelvis and two bones in his lower back.
