She took up the sport in September 2017.
Why this sport?
She competed in Para swimming when she was younger. She was then encouraged to try powerlifting by Susumu Yoshida, executive director of the Japan Para Powerlifting Federation, after she attended a try-out day with the Japan Rising Star Project.
