Why this sport?
"When I get in the race wheelchair, all of [my] symptoms go away. I may be losing the battle for control over aspects of my body, but this, I can control. And that's enough. More than enough, it is a powerful, addicting catalyst that explodes into all other areas of life."

Impairment
He has an undiagnosed neurological condition causing progressive ataxia. The condition began to affect his ability to walk and run around the age of 11. He can use crutches to move around for short distances, but otherwise uses a wheelchair to assist his mobility.
