When and where did you begin this sport?
He began taking sport more seriously after his accident in 1998. His first contact with Para athletics was in 2004. "I always had a void in my chest because I stopped playing sports. My athletic spirit and will power led me to swimming, and I discovered athletics through the Brazilian Paralympic Committee [CPB]."
Why this sport?
He was inspired to become an athlete after watching the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens. He first tried swimming before taking up athletics. "In my first competition, just for fun, I finished in second place in the national championships, and six months later I was the South American record holder."

Impairment
