When and where did you begin this sport?
She took up Para athletics competitively for Gauteng at the 2017 National Championships in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
Why this sport?
She became involved in Para athletics after she was introduced to Johan Snyders during her rehabilitation. Snyders founded Jumping Kids, an organisation that helps children with impairments through prosthetic limbs. "One of his questions was if I participated in sport. I told him that I did at school and up until 1995 I played basketball whilst in the army.”

Impairment
At age 53 she had her right leg amputated below the knee due to an infection. She underwent a further 19 operations to help stop the infection spreading. (iwasf.com, 2017)
