Impairment
His left leg was atrophied at birth, so it was amputated above the knee. An operation while he was still in his mother's womb was found to be the cause of the problem and his family won a case for negligence against the University of Wales Hospital in 2002. The BBC estimated he was awarded damages of more than 1,000,000 GBP. (bbc.co.uk, 15 Mar 2004)
