World Para Dance Sport saddened by the passing of Valeriy Bevzyuk

World Para Dance Sport is deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Valeriy Bevzyuk. 

The Ukrainian athlete passed away on Saturday (9 July) at the age of 58. 

Bevzyuk was a regular presence on the podium of international Para dance sport competitions for nearly 20 years taking part in six World Championships.  

He took his first medal in a Worlds in 2008 finishing in third place in the Combi Latin. Two years later, Bevzyuk became world champion for the first time competing in the same event in Hannover, Germany. 

The Ukrainian would then go on to pick up other five more World Championships medals, including two golds in the class 1 Duo Standard at Malle 2017 in Belgium and Bonn 2019 in Germany alongnside Illona Slugovyna.  

World Para Dance Sport’s thoughts are with also the friends and family of Valeriy Bevzyuk.
