Angola to host African Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Championships

The Championships were originally scheduled to take place in Egypt, but have been moved due to political instability in the region.

The top teams in Africa will compete at the African Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Championships from 24 October – 3 November in in Luanda, Angola, the Angolan Paralympic Committee announced.

The Championships were originally scheduled to take place in Egypt, but have been moved due to political instability in the region.

South Africa will enter the event as the top-ranked team and defending champions, with Nigeria ranked second and Zimbabwe third. Angola, Algeria, Egypt and Morocco will also take part.

The top three finishers from the event will qualify for the 2014 IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships, which will take place from 1-12 July next year in Incheon, South Korea.
