Bebe Vio announces herself on the world stage

Bebe Vio was just 19 when she made her Paralympic debut at Rio 2016, but the Italian managed to progress from the pool stage of the individual foil B undefeated, winning all of her bouts 5-0.

Vio stormed through the quarter-finals with a ruthless display to defeat Poland’s Marta Makowska 15-6, before stunning the defending London 2012 Paralympic champion YAO Fang of People's Republic of China 15-1 to setup the gold medal match against People's Republic of China’s ZHOU Jingjing.

Zhou was the firm favourite, but with anticipation and expectation rising, Vio had other ideas.
