Berlin Media Partners Cover IPD 2007

The International Paralympic Day (IPD) 2007 to be held on 23 August in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Germany, will be covered extensively by local media partners. The newspaper ‘Der Tagesspiegel’, the television station rbb and the Wall AG will help to bring Paralympic Sport to the public. 16 Aug 2007 By IPC

Organized by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the global governing body of the Paralympic Movement, IPD is looking forward to the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

Since the ‘Tagesspiegel’ has established itself as a competent and dedicated supporter of Paralympic Sport during the Paralympic Games in Athens and Torino when it supported the Paralympics newspaper of the German Paralympic Committee, it will also be an excellent media partner for IPD 2007.

On 21 August, Tagesspiegel will publish a 12-page insert with important information about IPD 2007 and the programme of the day. Besides an interview with IPC President Sir Philip Craven, the newspaper will include an article about barrier free travelling and portraits about the young Berlin Wheelchair Tennis player Katharina Krüger and US Long Jumper Casey Tibbs.

rbb TV will be present on 23 August in front of the Brandenburg Gate and will broadcast 60 minutes live from 17:00. rbb Radio will also be present. The topic ‘sport for persons with a disability’ and pre-coverage of the different events will be included in several transmissions.

Media partner Wall AG is distributing over 1,000 posters promoting the IPD in the Berlin city area.

The International Paralympic Day, which is held in Berlin for the first time, offers first hand elite level Paralympic Sport. Besides a match of the Chinese women’s national team in Wheelchair Basketball, a Long Jump competition and several other sport presentations, spectators will have the opportunity to try out Paralympic sports themselves and make their own Paralympic experience.
