Colombia’s delegation for the Parapan American Games will depart for Guadalajara, Mexico, on Monday morning (7 November) at 9:00 local time from the Catam Military Airport.

A total of 97 athletes from Colombia will compete from 12-20 November in 11 of the 13 sports.

“Our goal is to surpass what was achieved in Rio de Janeiro,” said Colombian Paralympic Committee President Carlos Parra Dussan, referring to the 2007 Parapans.

“Our aim is very high because we are moving to make the Guadalajara Parapan American delegation the best in history, not only by quantity, but by quality athletes.”

In 2007, Colombia won 17 medals at the Parapans, including two golds, six silvers and nine bronze.

Alvaro Galvis, a reigning world champion para-cyclist, will carry the flag for his country during the Opening Ceremony on 12 November. He was chosen for the role through a public vote via Facebook and won the poll with 2,198 votes.
