There is just one month to go until the Global Games, which are organized by the International Sports Federation for para-athletes with an Intellectual Disability (INAS).

From 24 September to 4 October, nearly 900 athletes from 39 nations are expected to travel to the Liguria region of northern Italy compete in eight different sports in the cities of Genoa, Imperia and Loanhead.

Athletes with an intellectual disability will compete in Athletics, Basketball, Cycling, Football 5-a-Side, Rowing, Swimming, Table Tennis and Tennis, with Judo as a demonstrative discipline.

In 2009, the second edition of the Games was a great success in the Czech Republic, as 800 athletes from 34 nations competed in nine different sports. With the number of athletes expecting to venture to Italy for the event, it is obvious to see that the Games’ following is increasing rapidly.
