The Ghana Blind Sports Association (GBSA) commemorated this year’s African Union Day with a goalball competition between local men´s and women´s teams at the University of Ghana Legon in the country´s capital city of Accra.

The activities aimed at raising awareness of the sport across the country and prepare the different teams ahead of the National Goalball and Athletics Championships in the city of Cape Coast, in August.

GBSA President Eric Kissi assured they are planning to develop many more sports for the blind, such as football 5, cycling and swimming, amongst others. “Two blind athletes represented Ghana at the African Games in Brazzaville, Congo, in 2015. We hope to have more athletes competing in the build-up to Tokyo 2020.”
