After stormy conditions and gusts above 30 knots kept sailors ashore on Wednesday (9 November) , Great Britain’s Skud team, Alexandra Rickham and Niki Birrell were able to maintain their lead on Thursday at the Sailing World Cup in Melbourne, Australia.

Sail Melbourne opens the World Cup series with races taking place from 6-12 November.

After six out of 10 races complete, Australia’s Daniel Fitzgibbon and Liesl Tesch are in second position in the Skud class, with their teammates Jamie Dunross and Rachael Cox coming third.

Matt Bugg (AUS) continues his lead in the 2.4mR class. Bugg is currently sitting on five points, nine ahead of New Zealander Brett Willcock on 14 points. Australia’s Greg Hyde is in third place on 16 points with just 4 races to go.
