Harouna Ousmane Wins Jappo Award

The Secretary General of the National Paralympic Committee of Niger, Harouna Ousmane, received a trophy at the 2009 Jappo Awards for his achievement in promoting sport for people with a disability. 23 Feb 2009 By IPC

The award to Mr. Ousmane was presented in February at the Africa International Sport Convention (CISA) in Alexandria, Egypt. The Jappo Awards for 2009 had created two new awards which included the promotion of sport for people with a disability, along with an award of merit, which went to General Mounir Sabet, International Olympic Committee (IOC) member and President of the Olympic Committee of Egypt.

The gala night was also an opportunity for big names in sport in Africa to be inducted into the Africa Sport Hall of Fame. Concluding the evening was the official announcement of the host nation for CISA 2010, in South Africa. The date will be announced at a later time.

CISA is an initiative created in 2007 by Jappo, an Events and Sport Management Company based in Dakar, Senegal. It is the sole event in Africa that gathers sport professionals on an African and international level. CISA represents a unique opportunity for international sport companies and organizations to meet and network with leaders and decision-makers of African sport, and take advantage of the various opportunities offered by the rising African sport market.
