The mascot is a perfect example of the wildlife of the area, as the Bavarian National Park is home to the some of the world’s last wild lynx.

With 44 days to go until the Opening Ceremony of the 2017 World Para Nordic Skiing Championships in Finsterau, Germany, organisers have unveiled the official mascot and are inviting fans to help find a name.

The mascot of the competition, which is expected to attract 135 of the world’s best biathletes and cross-country skiers from 25 countries between 10-19 February, is a lynx.

He has a collar bearing the World Championships logo and will serve as an ambassador for Finsterau 2017, taking place in the picturesque surroundings of the Bavarian forest.

The mascot is a perfect example of the wildlife of the area, as the Bavarian National Park is home to the some of the world’s last wild lynx.

In addition, the animal represents strength, assertiveness and willpower – all qualities of the athletes who will gather in Finsterau for the last major competition ahead of the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games.

The Local Organising Committee is holding a Facebook competition where people can suggest the name they think best suits the mascot.

They are looking for entries which reflect Bavaria and the Championships and are offering several prizes, including tickets to a local spa and a VIP experience during one day of biathlon competitions, for the winning entry.
