IPC and LOCOG Discuss 2012 Paralympic Planning

"The day was an excellent opportunity to discuss current planning and further steps for the upcoming months," said IPC CEO Xavier Gonzalez.

A delegation from the IPC, including IPC CEO Xavier Gonzalez, spent a day in London, Great Britain, to meet with several LOCOG Departments to discuss the current preparations for the London 2012 Paralympic Games. In various parallel working group sessions, the IPC received a detailed update on the preparation progress from LOCOG in areas such as ceremonies, media and communication, broadcasting, commercial, transport, Paralympic villages and venues. In the final plenary session, outcomes were discussed and priorities set for the further planning process.

"The day was an excellent opportunity to discuss current planning and further steps for the upcoming months. We are very confident that London will deliver excellent and unique Games in 2012," said IPC CEO Xavier Gonzalez.

Today, the IPC and London 2012 concluded the visit with a debrief session on the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games to discuss key learnings and main challenges for the future.
