The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) signed a letter of intent this week with the International Telecommunication Union outlining their collaboration for a global awareness campaign that will include access services to broadcasting for people with visual and hearing impairments by 2016.

The intended outcome of the campaign is to understand how to make the audiovisual coverage of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games as inclusive as possible across 20 languages.

This coverage is expected to include services such as closed captioning and audio descriptions, which the IPC hopes to bring viewers over the next four years.

The collaboration could also potentially include viral videos to promote the campaign, in addition to other promotional materials across print and social media platforms.
