IPC Medical Director Attends FIMS Meeting

In April 2008, International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Medical and Scientific Director Dr. Peter Van de Vliet was invited by the International Federation of Sports Medicine (FIMS) FIMS to attend the FIMS Executive Committee meeting in Hong Kong, China, to present current IPC initiatives in the area of Medical Services and Sports Medicine/Sports Science. 17 Apr 2008 By IPC

The FIMS Meeting took place at the occasion of the 5th World Congress on Sports Trauma.

At the occasion of the conference, Dr. Van de Vliet also conducted site-visits to the Hong Kong Equestrian Venue to check the accessibility and set-up of the medical station, classification room and Anti-Doping station. He also met with Dr. Hong Fung, Chief Executive Officer of the Prince of Wales Hospital, one of the official hospitals for the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, and Dr. Wai Hung Luk, Manager Medical Services of the Beijing 2008 Equestrian Events, and received an update on the preparations.
