The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has sent its condolences to the family and friends of Dutch football legend Johan Cruyff.

Sir Philip Craven, IPC President, said: “On behalf of the whole Paralympic Movement, I would like to express my sadness at Johan Cruyff’s passing and my heartfelt condolences to his family.

“Through his Foundation, Johan was a huge advocate of the Paralympic Movement and a fond supporter of the Agitos Foundation and stressed the importance of sport in giving people with impairments an independent life.

“Johan attended the London 2012 Paralympic Games and we were looking forward to welcome him at Rio 2016.”

“Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”
