Iran Takes on Russia at CPISRA Football World Cup Final

Russia and Iran will go head to head in the final of the Cerebral Palsy International Sports & Recreation Association (CPISRA) 7-a-side Football World Championship today (Friday 1 July) in the Netherlands. Kick-off is at 19.30 CET at the FC Emmen stadium.

Iran reached the final after knocking out Beijing 2008 Paralympic gold medallists, Ukraine, by a 4-2 score line, while Russia hammered Brazil 4-0.

Russia and Iran, Beijing 2008’s silver and bronze medallists respectively, are undefeated so far this tournament and have scored 53 goals between them.

Although Iran has scored one more goal than Russia so far, Russia’s success has been based on a tight defence which has conceded just two goals all tournament.

There will be three other games played on Friday. Ukraine and Brazil will play-off for third place, hosts the Netherlands and Scotland will contest fifth place and finally Argentina and USA will go head-to-head to decide who finishes seventh.
