The National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) of Iran and Iraq have extended bilateral sport relations between the two nations with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.

At a meeting between the two nations in the Iranian capital Tehran on Wednesday 20 August, Iraqi NPC President Aqeel Hameed Oudah Al-Oudah was joined by a number of his colleague to develop a plan for future co-operation between the countries.

During their visit, the Iraqi delegation also met with Dr. Sajadi, Deputy of Youth and Sport Minister and also with officials from the I.R. Iran Blind and Disabled Sports Federation officials to get more familiar with Iranian capabilities for the para-athletes.

Mr. Al-Oudah, President of the Iraqi NPC, said his visit to Iran was fruitful because of so many common cultural features between two neighbor countries.

As a result of the new Memorandum of Understanding, Iran and Iraq will co-operate in holding educational and training courses in both countries and the Iranian NPC will transfer its knowledge and experience to help further develop para-sports in Iraq.
