Japan Paralympic Committee Appoints New President

Mitsunori Torihara has been appointed President of the Japan Paralympic Committee.

Torihara is Chairman of the Tokyo Gas Co. Ltd where he has worked since 1967. A keen footballer, the 68-year-old used to be head coach on the Tokyo Gas Football Club and established the Tokyo Football Club Co. Ltd in 1998.

“I believe Mr. Torihara will lead us to the next step in the Paralympic Movement in Japan,” said Kunio Nakamori, Secretary General of the Japan Paralympic Committee.

Although the former President, Isao Hokugo, has resigned, he will continue to play a supportive role in Paralympic Sport in Japan.
